The 2008 Sun Gazette All-Star team has just been released. Leading the way for the Hornets with the only first team nomination was Junior Linebacker Aaron Moss. Moss led the team with 144 combined tackles and is one of the top tacklers in school history.

After 12 seasons of coaching in Wellsboro, and spending the last six seasons as the head coach, Chris Morral has decided to step down after a great 2008 season which saw the return of the Morton Jones Trophy, the team's first winning season in 12 years, and the first District 4 playoff appearance since 1995. Thank you Chris for all that you have done for Wellsboro football in your career. You will be greatly missed!
The 2008 NTL All-Star Selections have just been announced. Leading the way for the Hornets are Cameron Jones (2nd Team Quarterback), Pat Driebelbies (1st Team Fullback), Jake Coolidge (1st Team Free Safety), Garrett Stager (2nd Team Receiver), and Aaron Moss (1st Team Inside Linebacker).
The Wellsboro Gridders Club recently honored the 2008 Senior Class November 23 at the 18th annual Gridders Club Banquet. Gridders Club President Sally Jones started the event and then turned the microphone over to Head Coach Chris Morral as he introduced and commerated this year's Senior Class. This year's group of Seniors will be remembered forever for their accomplishments throughout the course of the high school career. The Mount Carmel Tornadoes captured the 2008 District 4 Class AA Championship on Friday night by defeating Montoursville, 35-21. Despite being down 21-0 at halftime, the Warriors were the first team to score against Mount Carmel at home in the last five playoffs games. Mount Carmel (13-0) will face Lancaster Catholic in the first round of the state playoffs while Montoursville (10-3) ends their season.
The 18th annual Wellsboro Gridders Club Banquet is scheduled for Sunday, November 23 at 1:00 p.m. in the High School gym to celebrate and close a very successful football season. Also, the 2008 Senior Class will be honored during the banquet for their dedication to the program. Every player who participated in either Middle School or Varsity football this season is expected to attend.
The 2008 NTL Large School Champion Athens Wildcats faced some of their own medicine last night when they stepped onto the field with Montoursville in the District 4 Class AA semifinal game. Montoursville easily defeated the Wildcats 42-7 at Athens, and will now face Mount Carmel for the District 4 Class AA Title.
