Hornets compete at Twin Tiers Invite

The Wellsboro girls track team won the Twin Tiers Invite while the boys team finished fourth on Friday afternoon. Senior Taylor Acorn won the 100m in 13.17 with teammates Mikayla Palmer-Bacon fourth in 13.86 and Lauren Bleggi fifth at 13.92. Acorn was second in the 200m at 27.08 while Bleggi was fourth in 28.68.

Senior Raina Rogers won the 400m in 59.65 with teammate Becky Chambers fourth in 1:03.38. Charlotte Worthington was third in the 1600m run at 5:54.02 with teammate Marina Garrison sixth in 6:05.18. Annie Sweeney was fifth in the 3200m at 13:35.20.

Junior Mackenzie Marple won the 100 hurdles in 17.52 and the 300 hurdles in 51.10.

The Hornets won two of the three relay events as they finished first in the 4x100m with a time of 51.46 and took home the top spot in the 4x400m with a time of 4:16.

Rogers won the high jump at 4' 10" while teammate Sarah Kramer won the pole vault in 8'.

Marple was fourth in the triple jump at 32' 0.75" while Sherri Hovis was fourth in the shot put at 29' 3". Katie Straniere was fifth in the discus at 77' 11".

For the boys team, Sophomore Dan Brooks was sixth in 100m and 200m with times of 12.58 and 26.24, respectively. Jordan Jackson won the 800m in 2:01.52 while teammate Bobby Hill was fifth in 2:11.95. Jackson also won the 1600m in 4:28.87 with Hill third in 4:45.02.

Senior Bob Owlett won the 3200m in 10:08.78. Sophomore Blair Carson was fifth in the 110m hurdles in 18.81. Thomas Straniere was third in the pole vault at 10' 6" while teammate Konnor Spencer was sixth in 9' 6".

In the shot put, Senior Chase Barnes finished fifth with a throw of 40' 1.5". The Hornets also won the 4x100m with a time of 47.34.
