Prough's dunk pushes Wellsboro past Williamson

A monster two-handed dunk by Sophomore Dylan Prough in the final seconds helped push Wellsboro past Williamson, 44-39. The Hornets trailed 20-17 at the half, but used a big third quarter to regain the lead and eventually hold on the their first NTL West win in the second half of league play.

Junior Matt Reese led the team in scoring with 15 points and Junior Jordan Jackson contributed 12. Also chiiping in for Wellsboro was Prough with 8 points, Sophomore Joey Doganiero with 5 points, and Senior Sam Mitchell and Freshman Michael Pietropola each added two.

With the win, the Hornets are now 15-2 (7-0 NTL West) on the year.

In JV action, the Hornet used 14 points from Sophomore Forward Brian Doty to defeat Williamson, 37-27. Freshman Kieron Smethers and Pietropola also added 7 points each. The Hornets will be back in action on Monday, February 6, as they host Galeton.
