The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Soccer team continued their shut out streak as they defeated Towanda, 12-0 on Saturday September 13.

Three different Hornets recorded hat tricks on the day as the Hornet offense dominated on the day.

Junior Tucker Worthington got things started for Wellsboro in the 12th minute as he scored on a direct kick to put the Hornets up 1-0. Junior Dawson Prough scored just four minutes later as he scored on an assist from Josiah Hill. Hill would rack up another assist just a few seconds later as Senior Gillan Alafoginis took his pass and scored to put Wellsboro up 3-0.

Junior Sean Dooley scored Wellsboro's fourth goal at 23:14 off a Dawson Prough assist. 11 minutes later Prough scored off an assist from Worthington to put Wellsboro up 5-0. The Hornets would add one more goal in the first half as Hill scored on a penalty kick at 35:16.

The Hornets added six more goals in the second half starting with Worthington at 44:25. Hill scored his second goal of the day at the 47:40 mark as he scored on an assist from Senior Dylan Plume. Worthington scored again at 61:15 followed by Freshman Gabe Leach, Hill, and Prough to round out the scoring.

"The boys played well today," said head coach John Shaffer. "It was nice to see the varsity reserves get a chance to play significant time and a couple contribute their first varsity points. This was our first game on a district level field and gave us a great opportunity to figure out spacing and movement."

The Hornets took 32 shots on the day to Towanda's 3 and held a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks. Senior Jake Mitchell made 2 saves in net for his fifth straight shut out of the season.

With the win, the Hornets improve to 5-0 (5-0 NTL). The team will be back in action on Monday, September 15 as they host Williamson.
