After being tied 18-18 after the first quarter, Towanda was able to hold off the Hornets to pick up a 65-55 NTL victory.

The Hornets had no answer for Towanda's Noah Huff and David Rodenhizer. Huff scored 25 of his career-high 35 in the first half and Rodenhizer scored 22 points, 16 in the second half, to push the Black Knights over Wellsboro.

Towanda started to pull away from Wellsboro with a 18-4 second quarter run as they led Wellsboro 36-22 at halftime. In the third, Wellsboro outscored the Black Knights 12-9 and 21-20 in the fourth quarter but couldn't dig themselves out of the hole.

Sophomore Dawson Prough led four Hornets in doulbe figures with 14 points, Junior Michael Pietropola had 13, and Junior Kieron Smethers and Senior Dylan Prough each had 10 on the night. Senior Joey Doganiero rounded out the scoring with 8 points.

Smethers added in 9 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block and Dylan Prough had 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

In the J.V. game, the Hornets fell 34-25. Freshman Brandon Lamphier had 13 for Wellsboro.

With the loss the Hornets fall to 12-5 (4-2 NTL Division 1), two games back of the Black Knights. The team will be back in action on Wednesday, January 29 as they travel to Athens.
