Hornet Volleyball tops Troy, 3-1

The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team won their first NTL Division 1 match on Tuesday, September 15 as they beat Troy 3-1.

The Lady Hornets won the first two sets 25-15 before Troy rebounded in the third set to win 26-24 to force a fourth set. Wellsboro rallied in the fourth set and pulled away at the end 25-20 to win the match.

Junior Kirsten Florio led the team with 13 kills and 5 blocks. Senior Maddy Kyle recorded 16 assists and junior Morgan Florio had 11 assists. Senior Mikayla Feil led the team with 16 points and 2 aces, Morgan Florio scored 15 points and had 5 aces, and Kyle scored 9 points with an ace.

Senior Hannah Wagaman made 25 digs on the night to lead the Lady Hornets and senior Darci Warriner added 20.

Wellsboro won the JV game 25-12, 25-12 to improve to 2-1 on the year.

With the win, the Varsity team stays unbeaten at 3-0 (1-0 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Thursday, September 17 as they travel to Athens.
