Hornets finish 5th, 6th at NTL Championships

The Wellsboro Track & Field teams put up 5th and 6th finishes at the NTL Championships at Athens Area High School on Friday, May 12.

The Lady Hornets placed 5th with 70 points while the boys were 6th with 56 points.

Athens (172) won the girls meet followed by Canton (83), Troy (78), Towanda (74), Wellsboro, Northern Tioga (63), Wyalusing (62), Northeast Bradford (46), Sayre (32), and North Penn-Mansfield (22).

Athens (145) also won the boys meet with Towanda (119.5) in 2nd, North Penn-Mansfield (98) in 3rd, Northeast Bradford (89) in 4th, Wyalusing (86.5) in 5th, Wellsboro, Northern Tioga (49) in 7th, Canton (39) in 8th, Sayre (14) in 9th, and Troy (5) in 10th.

For the girls freshman Caitlyn Callahan (13.79) 5th in the 100m, freshman Savana Baltzley (29.69) was 12th in the 200m and 9th in the 300m hurdles (56.26), sophomore Zoe Iseri (1:10.25) was 10th in the 400m, freshman Kayla Mengee (2:54.35) was 16th in the 800m, sophomore Elizabeth Macias (5:49.45) was 5th in the 1600m and 6th in the 3200m (13:16.03), junior Anna Bleggi (13:44.35) was 7th in the 3200m, and junior Grace Heckman (18.91) was 10th in the 100m hurdles.

The Lady Hornets took 2nd in the 4x100m relay (54.46), 6th in the 4x400m relay (4:44.63), and 4th in the 4x800m relay (11:12.19).

Sophomore Alivia Kennedy and junior Jillian Graver (4-ft, 4-in) tied for 8th in the high jump, junior Kaitlyne Kramer (8-ft, 6-in) was 2nd in the pole vault, sophomore Dahlia Hosey (16-ft, 7.5-in) was 3rd in the long jump and was 2nd in the triple jump (36-ft, 1.25), Callahan (33-ft, 0.25-in) was 3rd in the triple jump, senior Hannah Lawton (25-ft, 5-in) was 14th in the shot put and 5th in the discus (90-ft, 8-in), and senior Samantha Spurgeon (104-ft, 7-in) was 2nd in the javelin.

For the boys freshman Silas Wagaman (12.05) was 15th in the 100m, junior Wyatt Dean (24.17) was 6th in the 200m and 9th in the 400m (54.73), sophomore Trevor Weaver (2:24.75) was 16th in the 800m, sophomore Aidan Perry (4:54.12) was 8th in the 1600m and 7th in the 3200m (11:11.34), freshman Alex Burrell (18.94) was 11th in the 110m hurdles, and sophomore Isaac Wagner (48.62) was 12th in the 300m hurdles.

The Hornets were 5th in the 4x100m relay (47.05), 5th in the 4x400m relay (3:49.12), and 4th in the 4x800m relay (9:13.81).

Junior Gabe Leach (10-ft) was 7th in the pole vault, seniors Dupree Hosey (20-ft, 3-in) and Brandon Lamphier (19-ft, 11-in) swept the long jump, Dupree Hosey (41-ft, 0.75-in) won the triple jump, and Lamphier (149-ft, 5-in) was third in the javelin.

Members of both teams will be back in action at the District IV Championships at Williamsport Area High School on Thursday, May 18.
