Perry finishes top 20 at NEPA Invite.

Junior Aidan Perry brought home a top 20 finish at the NEPA Invite in Bloomsburg on Saturday, September 30.

Perry's time of 17:35, a seaso best, placed him in 16th overall out of the 196 male runners. Senior Connor Brought (18:28) was 53rd, junior Bergen Weiner (19:01) was 82nd, junior Zack Busch (19:59) was 125th, sophomore Lucas Citrino (21:11) was 161st, senior Logan Morral (21:25) was 165th, and junior Taylor Wheeler rounded out the Hornets in 190th at 23:55.

The Wellsboro boys finished 16th as a team with 418 places.

In the girls race the Lady Hornets finished 21st overall with 524 places. Senior Anna Bleggi finished 44th in a time of 22:15, junior Kara Doane (23:51) was 95th, sophomore Kylie Butler (25:09) was 128th, junior Rachel Chamberlain (25:37) was 138th, freshman Aislinn Hoose (26:07) was 143rd, sophomore Alex Chilson (26:12) was 145th, and freshman Alexis Banik (27:03) was 154th.

"We attend the NEPA invite each year to reacquaint ourselves with and gauge our fitness on the course we will compete for the District IV title later in the month," said head coach Ron Brought. "I challenged all of the runners to run a new personal best on the Bloomsburg course. I was very proud of the team for their effort as every runner on the roster matched or exceeded their previous PR on the day. The kids are well positioned to build on the momentum we gained from such a strong outing to carry over to our final two NTL meets. They're both on running friendly courses so the success at NEPA will certainly have us in a great frame of mind competing over the final weeks of the season."

In the Middle School race, the young Lady Hornets finished 21st out of 24 teams. The boys did not have enough runners for a team score.

Madeline Gage (12:54) was 42nd, Julia DeCamp (14:29) was 131st, Madeline Bryant (14:55) was 151st, Regan Regina (14:58) was 154th, and Talia Crocco (20:58) was 275th. Aidan Coffee ran 14:02 to finish 179th.

The Hornets return to regular season action on Tuesday, October 3 as they travel to Sayre for a tri-meet with the Redskins and the Towanda Black Knights.
