Northern Tioga sweeps Wellsboro on the track

The Northern Tioga Warriors picked up a pair of NTL track and field wins at Wellsboro on Thursday, April 26.

Northern Tioga's boys team edged Wellsboro 77-73 while the Lady Warriors beat the Lady Hornets 88-53.

In the girls meet sophomore Caitlyn Callahan (13.42) was 2nd in the 100m while sophomore Savana Baltzley (29.68), freshman Alexis Banik (30.54), sophomore Lauren Singer (30.75), and freshman Hope Sampson (30.86) were 2nd-6th in the 200m. Junior Zoe Iseri (1:09.37), sophomore Alex Chilson (1:10.45), and freshman Aislinn Hoose (1:14.75) swept the 400m, junior Rachel Chamberlain (3:15.11) was 3rd in the 800m, junior Elizabeth Macias was 2nd in the 1600m (6:35.04) and 2nd in the 3200m (14:02.99), Iseri (20:03) was 4th in the 100m hurdles, and sophomore Kylie Butler (1:01.4) and junior Kara Doane (1:03.3) were 3rd and 4th in the 300m hurdles.

The Lady Hornets failed to finish the 4x100m relay, but took the top spots in both the 4x400m relay (4:47.83) and the 4x800m relay (13:12.0).

Callahan (4-ft, 10) and Sampson (4-ft, 2) were 2nd and 3rd in the high jump, Callahan (16-ft, 3.5) won the long jump with Chilson (13-ft, 7) in 2nd, senior Abby Feil (24-ft, 7) was 3rd in the shot put, senior Rebecca Janelli (61-ft, 7) was 3rd in the discus, and Singer (81-ft, 5.5) and Feil (78-ft, 9.5) were 1st and 2nd in the javelin.

For the boys, senior Alex Kozuhowski (11.46) and sophomore Aidan Hauser (11.56) were 1st and 2nd in the 100m, Kozuhowski (23.63) won the 200m with freshmen Joseph Grab (25.69) and Bayley Wilcox (26.57) in 3rd and 4th. Junior Brett Rudy (58.32), freshman Jonathan Wetzel (58.6), junior Bergen Weiner (59.84), freshman Zach Singer (1:00.66), and freshman Anthony Dunkel (1:03.25) were 3rd-7th in the 400m, junior Trevor Weaver (2:24.75) was 3rd in the 800m, freshman Tylar Wright (5:41.86) was 5th in the 1600m, junior Aidan Perry (11:57.17) was 4th in the 3200m, freshman Evan Hoover (20.08) and junior Elijiah Cruz (20.63) were 2nd and 3rd in the 110m hurdles, and sophomore Brennan Warner (45.9), Hoover (49.75), and Cruz (54.12) were 2nd-4th in the 300m hurdles.

The Hornets won the 4x100m relay (45.56), were 2nd in the 4x400m (4:11.39), and won the 4x800m (9:56.0).

Sophomore Frank Kewitt (5-ft, 7) won the high jump, sophomore Connor Ramsey (8-ft, 6) was 2nd in the pole vault, Hauser (20-ft, 4.5) and Kozuhowski (18-ft, 11.5) were 1st and 2nd in the long jump, and sophomore Karter Witmer (36-ft, 4.5), Kewitt (36-ft, 3), and Weiner (36-ft, 0.75) swept the triple jump. Junior Hunter Brown (36-ft, 9) won the shot put and was 2nd in the discus (112-ft, 1) while sophomore Austin Richards (132-ft, 4.5) won the javelin with Witmer (118-ft, 11.5) and Brown (114-ft, 11.5) were 3rd and 4th.

Both teams are back in action against Towanda and Montgomery on Monday, April 30 at home.
