The Wellsboro Middle School Basketball teams both edged Northeast Bradford in their first road games of the year on Wednesday, November 6.

The boys A team pulled out a 29-26 win. Caden Smith paced the Hornets with 12 points and Hayes Campbell added 11 points while Julian Mann, Carter Knowlton, and Ian Hoose all had 2 points each.

"I thought this would be a close game given the travel and the atmosphere in the gym tonight," head coach Kyle Smith said. "The boys played tough defense at key moments and that was the difference in the game. Offensively, we did just enough to earn the win."

The B team lost 28-20 with EJ Keck scoring 11 points, Mitchel Lechler with 5 and Micah Vickery added 4 points.

In the girls game the young Lady Hornet A team won, 19-17. Wellsboro led 4-2 after the 1st quarter, trailed 9-7 at halftime, and regained the lead in the 3rd to lead, 13-12.

Maddy Mascho had 8 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 assist, Chloe Brandenburg (2 rebounds, 2 assists) and Paige Logsdon (6 rebounds, 5 steals) had 4 points each. Olivia Chilson added 2 points and 2 rebounds, while Emily Morris added 1 point, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 assist.

"We had our hands full with a very athletic NEB team and we didn't take care of the ball early on," said head coach Darrell Morris. "The girls responded well after halftime and got some great close game experience in the second half."

In the B game Wellsboro lost 26-15. Paige Logsdon had 8 points while Eva Anderson, Chloe Brandenburg, Lexi Fillmore, and Emily Pierce added 2 points each.

The Middle School teams are back in action Saturday, November 9 at 10:00 a.m.
