The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team scored a 75-66 overtime win over rival North Penn-Mansfield on the road on Monday, February 22.

"Tonight was a good team win," head coach Steve Adams said. "We fell apart at end of regulation but finished well in overtime. Having five guys scoring in double figures was outstanding."

As time was running out in the fourth quarter the Hornets held a 5 point lead, but the Tigers erased it on a long-range three pointer by Karson Dominick and a steal/layup by Jacob Evans to tie the game up at 60-all at the end of regulation. Wellsboro dominated the four minute overtime, outscoring the Tigers 15-6, in large part to shooting 13-of-16 at the foul line, to secure the win.

North Penn-Mansfield started out holding a 13-9 lead after the first quarter then extended their lead to 28-22 at the end of the first half. The Hornets then went on a 19-14 run in the third to cut the Tigers' lead to just a point heading into the fourth quarter. Wellsboro outscored the Tigers 19-18 over the final 8 minutes, and were as up by as much as 7 points before Dominick's and Evans' shots.

Junior Liam Manning led all scorers with a game-high 18 points, juniors Isaac Keane and Darryn Callahan and sophomore Conner Adams all scored 15 points apiece and sophomore Peyton McClure added 10 points. Sophomore Cameron Brought rounded out the scoring with 2 points. Callahan grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds, Manning added 10 rebounds to his point total, and both Adams and McClure made 4 assists and grabbed 4 rebounds.

Alex Stein led the Tigers with 15 points and Brody Burleigh dropped 12.

Wellsboro won the JV game 51-32 to improve the 12-2 on the year. Brought had 17 to lead the Hornets while freshman Hayes Campbell added 14.

The win improves the Hornets' record to 12-3 (11-3 NTL Large School Division). The Hornets host Bucktail later this evening for Senior Night then host Troy on Thursday and Towanda on Saturday to round out the regular season before the PIAA District IV Class AAA tournament begins next week.
