Wellsboro's Acorn headlines All-Region girls track and field.

2012 All-Region Girls Track TeamWellsboro's Taylor Acorn once again put together an impressive year on the track, but took it one step further this season with an individual PIAA medal.

Acorn had the top times in the 100 (12.66), 200 (26.35) and 300 hurdles (45.80) while also being part of the top 4x100 relay (49.65) that medaled. Her long jump mark was also third best in the area.


All that added up made Acorn the All-Region girls' track Athlete of the Year.

The field Athlete of the Year is Northeast Bradford's Kelsey Carlsen.

Carlsen had the best javelin (147-feet, 5-inches) mark in the area and earned a PIAA medal. She also had the longest shot put throw (34-feet, 8-inches).

The Newcomer of the Year is Wellsboro's Lauren Bleggi. The freshman was a key cog in the 4x100 relay and had the third best 200 time in the area.

On First Team behind Acorn and Carlsen is Wyalusing's Erika Huffman, who was the best in the 800 (2:18.79) and 1600 (5:07.04). Troy's Casey Norton was the top 3200 (11:16.97) runner, Wellsboro's Raina Rogers was top in the 400 (58.98) and Sayre's Elyse Skerpon was the top 100 hurdler (16.20).

In the field Waverly's Sabrina Emms was first team in the long jump (16-feet, 10 1/2-inches), Wellsboro's Kimberly Acorn in the triple jump (34-feet, 4-inches), Tioga's Charlsie Bowen in the pole vault (10-feet, 6-inches) and Waverly's Hailey Moorehead in the discus (90-feet, 9-inches).

Towanda's Hailey Innocenzo and Athens' Jess Kopatz both made first team in the high jump (5-feet, 2-inches).

Wellsboro 4x100 relay of Acorn, Bleggi, Mikayla Palmer-Bacon and Rogers is on the first team, along with the Towanda 4x800 relay (9:49.80) of Destiny Foster, Victoria Ackley, Danielle Zatkos and Katelin Purdy.

Notre Dame's 4x400 relay (4:03.66) of Debora Diarra, Mary Pelkowski, Brittany Schutrum and Rachel Lamoreaux rounds out the first team.

Second Team consists of Athens' Laura Lockard in the 200 and 400, Tioga's Madison Tinney in the 100, Ackley in the 800, Norton in the 1600 and Foster in the 3200. Rogers is the second team 100 hurdler while Skerpon is the second team 300 hurdler.

In the field the second team is Sayre's Sarah Ostroski in the long jump, Cowanesque Valley's Hayley Painter in the high jump, Wyalusing's Savannah Schools in the triple jump, Wyalusing's Jess Carr in the pole vault, North Penn's Kelsey Tice and Moorehead in the shot put, North Penn's Kirsten Berguson in the discus and Athens' Danielle Stopper in the javelin.

The Third Team has Wyalusing's Morgan Sutton in the 100, Bleggi in the 200, Waverly's Kaylee Uhl in the 400, Pelkowski in the 800, Foster in the 1600, North Penn's Violet Learn in the 3200, Troy's Emily Hunsicker in the 100 hurdles and Wyalusing's Paighton Martin in the 300 hurdles.

In the field it's Acorn in the long jump, Emms in the triple jump, Wellsboro's Sarah Kramer and Skerpon in the pole vault, Wyalusing's Sarah LaFrance in the discus and North Penn's Debby Brown in the javelin.
