Towanda edges Wellsboro.

Towanda defeated Wellsboro 4-3 in NTL girls' tennis action Tuesday.

Megan Paulish started off strong for the Black Knights, defeating Olivia Ryan 7-5, 5-7, 6-2. Then, Courtney Bennett kept it going for Towanda, winning over Joelle Quimby 6-2, 6-1.

Meghan Mendler made it 3-0 Towanda, topping Morgan Guthrie 6-4, 6-4.

Wellsboro then got on the board with Faith Kennedy defeating Kelly Hoffman 6-1, 6-0. Wellsboro's Kristen Bair defeated Towanda's Kelsie Davidson 6-0, 6-3 to end singles at 3-2 Towanda.

In doubles, Towanda's team of Paulish and Bennett beat Wellsboro's Ryan and Guthrie 6-3, 6-4. Wellsboro's Quimby and Kennedy defeated Mendler and Davidson 7-6 (8-6), 5-7, 10-7 (tie-breaker) to finish the match.

Cowanesque Valley 5, North Penn-Liberty 2

CV swept singles, starting with Delaney Ruef topping NPL's Hannah DiMarco 6-1, 6-0. Then, Cheyenne

Gehringer defeated Isabela Clark 6-4, 6-1. Next, Brynn Williams beat Jayna Brodnicki 7-5, 6-1. After that, Patty Wattles won over Kaitlyn Wetzel 6-2, 6-1. Delancy Doan won by default.

NPL swept doubles, starting with Maddie Burd and Emily Wood defeating CV's Sarah Boyer and Kori Birdsall 6-2, 6-1. Then, Kaitlyn Wetzel and Jayna Brodnicki topped Delancy Doan and Paige Swartz 6-0, 6-7, 11-9.

Galeton 4, St. John Neumann 1 (Game 1)

Galeton swept the singles matches, starting with Julia Burrows defeating Maylin Ettinger 10-3. Then, Lauren Cemino topped Brianna Minier 10-6. Clinching the singles sweep was Sierra Burrous who won over Molly Foresman 10-5.

In doubles, the Galeton team of Cemino and Burrous defeated SJN's Ettinger and Kaylin Brown by forfeit. Raina Matz and Mariah Helmaniak of SJN topped Autumn Brelo and Erica Nuccio 10-4.

Galeton 4, St. John Neumann 1 (Game 2)

In their second match of the day, Galeton confirmed their first results starting with Burrows defeating Ettinger 10-2, Cemino topping Brown due to injury default, and Burrous defeating Helmaniak 8-5 to sweep the singles matches.

In doubles, SJN's team of Foresman and Minier defeated Cemino and Brelo 8-7 (7-3) and Galeton's team of Burrows and Nuccio won over Ettinger and Matz 10-4.

Galeton plays next against Towanda on Thursday at home.

Notre Dame 7, Addison 0

Madeleine Meier started things off for Notre Dame, defeating Katie Watkins 6-1, 6-1. Chloe Stemermen then topped Makenna Barber 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. Maddie Wirth was next to win for Notre Dame, winning over Claire Ames 6-2, 6-4. Lucy Kaffenbarger then clinched the singles sweep for Notre Dame with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Megan Hargrave.

In doubles, Izzy Milanzzo and Hannah Mahon of Notre Dame defeated Kalie McCracken and Piper Dean 7-5, 6-1. Then Maggie MacBlane and Chase Leonard won over Xin Mei Zeng and Jenna Lynde 6-1, 6-0. Securing the overall sweep, Brooke Rorie and Angie Liriano defeated Kassie Webb and Kalina Starowitz 6-1, 6-0.
