ATHENS — Ethan Lane had a hat trick as the Athens boys picked up a 4-2 win over Northeast Bradford on Saturday.

Lane started the scoring just 2:34 into the contest off an assist from Brad Cardona and Willey Tilley.

Aaron Lane had the next goal for Athens, off an assist from his brother, at 22:13.

Ethan Lane made it 3-0 at 31:19 of the second half, before NEB got on the board at 20:55 as Maxon Cooper scored off a Collin Cowles assist.

Ethan Lane capped his hat trick at 12:38 off a Cardona assist. NEB got a penalty kick goal with 2:53 left by Cowles.

Athens improves to 5-0-1 on the year and they had 13 shots and five corner kicks, while NEB had four shots and one corner kick. Braden Priester had four saves for Athens and Adam Cole had nine saves for NEB.

Despite the loss NEB coach Dan Martin was proud of his team's effort.

"I am very proud of my players today," he said. "We entered into the contest with a game plan and they held to it and took advantage of the few scoring opportunities that we had. I don't think I've ever celebrated a loss, but when you see results in the paper like 15-1, it gives incentive to simply play our game and compete well. The boys competed well today."

Troy 4, North Penn-Liberty 3

The Troy boys picked up their first win of the year on Saturday.

Kaden Murray had a pair of goals for the Trojans and Hunter Kendall and JT Landis each had goals for the Trojans. Landis also had an assist in the win.

Nathaniel Johnson had two goals for NPL and Nick Grinnell added a goal.

Troy had 12 shots in the game, and North Penn-Liberty had nine shots. Troy had nine corner kicks, and NPL had three. Josh Nowacoski had seven saves for Troy, and NPL had five saves.

Troy won the JV game 7-0. Tanner Hodge had a hat trick and Tyler Smith, Brandon Manley, Evan Short and Nate Five-Eden had goals for the Trojans.

Wellsboro 6, Williamson 0

The Green Hornets stayed unbeaten in NTL play with the win.

Cam Tennis started things at 21:17 and then at 23:22 Brett Rudy scored off a Gabe Leach assist.

At 30:22, Kaeden Mann scored off an assist by Nic Ingerick.

At 21:30 of the second half, Holden Kennedy scored off a Leach assist and Tanner Runyan capped the scoring with two straight penalty kick goals to end things.

Wellsboro had 37 shots and five corners and Williamson had four shots and one corner kick.

Nate Redell had three saves for Wellsboro and Justin Robbins had 20 for Williamson.

Sayre 3, Galeton 1

The Redskins picked up the road win on Saturday night.

First-year senior Sam Vandermark opened the scoring with his fourth goal of the year on a cross from Jordan Rockwell in the 12th minute.

Sam Wheeler scored off a Nick Bentley assist with 17 minutes left in the half to put Sayre up 2-0.

Sayre went up 3-0 with five minutes left in the half off a corner kick by freshman Cody Vanbenthuysen that Rockwell put in the back of the net with a header.

Isiah Martinez scored for Galeton with 15 minutes left in the game.

Camden Wheeler had 20 saves in net to hold off the Galeton attack.

"Camden keeps getting better every game and tonight he made some really tough saves to protect the lead," Sayre coach Randy Rockwell said. "This is a really good win for us against a quality Galeton team."

Galeton had 22 shots and 10 corners and Sayre had 11 shots and two corners.

Sayre hosts NEB at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
