Another high school cross country season is in the books, and now it's time to recognize the region's best with this year's The Daily & Sunday Review All-Region team.

For the girls, Jules Jones won the NTL Coaches' Invitational, she was a top five finisher at districts and qualified for states and she's this year's runner of the year.

Wyalusing's Catherine Brown made states as a freshman this year and is the newcomer of the year, while Lauran Ensminger nearly qualified for states in her junior year and is the most improved runner.

Waverly coach Scott Baird is the girls' coach of the year after leading the Wolverines to a successful season.

The first team includes Jones and Brown, along with Waverly's Brandi Welch, Canton's Tamara Hess, Wyalusing's Hannah Corson and Karli Moyer of NEB. All of the first team members qualified for states.

The second team includes Troy's Courtney Case, Ensminger, Waverly's Olivia Nittinger, Troy's McKenzi Bellinger, Wellsboro's Anna Bleggi and Notre Dame's Alyssa Walker. After joining the team partway through the season, Walker was a state qualifier and 30th place finisher at states, for Notre Dame.

Notre Dame's Piper Young, Waverly's Elizabeth Fritzen and Sidney Tomasso, Troy's Madeline DeLosa and Brooke Hinman and Josie Kelley of Canton are the third-team picks.

For the boys, Alex Patton and Kevin Heeman of Wyalusing were 1-2 in the NTL all year and both qualified for states and they are the co-runners of the year. Troy's Owen Williams was among the best runners in the NTL as a freshman and is the newcomer of the year, while Notre Dame's Steven Segal is the newcomer of the year after making states for the Crusaders. Northeast Bradford coach Michael Murphy is the coach of the year after guiding the Panthers to the NTL title.

Segal, Patton, Heeman and Williams are all on the first team with NEB's Zak Smith, Wellsboro's Aidan Perry and Collin Wright of Waverly.

The second team is Logan Newton of Wyalusing, CV's Madden Doud, Blake Nelson of NPM, Connor Brought of Wellsboro and Mak Gleckner of Canton.

The third-team picks are Dale Brown, Destin Moore and Nate Mosier of NEB, Athens' Nate Aquilio, Troy's Kale Weidner and Tioga's Ezra Steele.
