HEPBURNVILLE — Throughout the first half, Kiah Russell kept Line Mountain's high-speed offense off the board.

However, a goal in the final seconds of the half by Emily Bingaman put the Eagles ahead, and the Panthers were never able to recover in a 4-0 Line Mountain win.

"They played a good game, we had great defense playing. Our midfield couldn't get the ball up fast enough after the defense got it out," NEB coach Josh Thoman said.

Russell had a number of big saves in the first half. Alyssa Lambert of Line Mountain came flying over top of Russell as she came out for a save, and she was able to keep the fast Eagles' forwards from finding the net.

"She's an amazing goalie and she does everything well in the back to save a lot of shots."

For Line Mountain, it was a slow start, but once the first goal went in things started coming easier.

"That seems to be the way we have been playing this year, over and over again," Line Mountain coach Shannon Snyder said. "I don't know what that is. We just need the momentum of the first goal and then we get going. I don't know why. I don't like it, it makes me nervous."

In the second half, Line Mountain went up 2-0 on another goal by Bingaman.

With around 15 minutes left, Northeast Bradford had a good scoring chance as the ball passed through the Line Mountain box and the Line Mountain goalie dove to try and save the ball.

"We were close, all season we have been working," Thoman said. "A lot of opportunities, just hard to finish."

Line Mountain added a pair of goals by Morgan Kelm in the final five minutes to cap the win.

"We held our own, and it was going to be a good game, and then we kind of lost it there at the end and the other team played well," Thoman said.

The Panthers lose a talented group of seniors, but they have a good group of younger girls coming up as well.

"It's going to be tough. We have some good, young girls coming up through and hopefully it will be a good couple more seasons coming," Thoman said.

Line Mountain had 15 shots and seven corner kicks in the game and NEB had four shots and one corner kick.

Autumn Czaplicki had four saves for Line Mountain and Russell had 11 saves for the Panthers in the game.
