Athens' Breana Gambrell has accomplished a lot in her high school career.

On Thursday she added one more line to her resume, capturing the long jump title at the prestigious Penn Relays.

Gambrell won the event on her last jump, landing a leap of 20-feet, 4 1/2-inches.

The Athens senior edged out Lanae-Tava Thomas of Rush-Henrietta (20-feet, 1 3/4-inches). Annia Ashley of Jamaica finished third at 19-feet, 7-inches.

Gambrell's winning jump would have been good enough for fifth place in the college long jump championship.

"This was a huge accomplishment for me," Gambrell said. "This was an accumulation of all my efforts throughout the years. Winning the long jump at this prestigious meet solidifies my decision to focus on track this past winter. I thank all of my coaches, especially my dad, my teammates and friends for supporting me and pushing me to be the best I can be."

Mansfield University's Charlsie Bowen, a Tioga grad, took 13th at the Penn Relays in the women's pole vault. She finished with a vault of 11-feet, 11 3/4-inches in the college competition.
