Athens pulls away from NEB.

ROME — Athens won nine matches and rallied from an early 18-0 deficit to beat Northeast Bradford 48-24 in NTL wrestling action Tuesday.

Bailey Poarch (120), Chris Horton (132) and Devin Sweat (145) scored falls while Jon Vough (182), Kyler Setzer (106) and David Nickson (113) each had forfeit wins for the Wildcats.

Poarch, wrestling two weights up, pinned Kregory Johnson in 4:17, while Horton pinned Destin Moore in 48 seconds and Sweat pinned Dale Brown in 2:25.

Also for Athens, A.J. Burkhart (138) got an 18-2 technical fall over Dusty Cook while David Galasso (160) scored a 17-3 major decision over Silas Miller.

And their final win came at 170 as Nate Bradley decisioned Tyler Devonshire 8-1.

For the Panthers, Owen Maryott (285) and Aaron Boss (152) earned pins while Dawson Brown (220) and Noah Forbes (195) scored falls.

Maryott pinned Keegan Braund in 3:37 while Boss pinned Ed Solomon in 1:26.

There was no match at 126.

Towanda 67, Canton 9

TOWANDA — The Black Knights either got a fall or forfeit in the first 10 bouts to pick up the NTL wrestling win Tuesday.

"Canton had some bad luck today," said Towanda coach Bill Sexton. "They had a couple injuries and a couple kids that went home six and we only had eight matches today, but I thought our kids went out and wrestled aggressively in those matches."

Seth Johnson (220), Derek Harrington (285), Steven Chenot (132) and Riley Gowin (145) scored falls while Tyler Hawley (106), Logan Anderson (113), Haven Benjamin-Fee (120), Blaise Devine (126), Tanner Kunkle (138) and Cooper Mosier (152) earned forfeits.

Johnson pinned Trevor Williams in 1:07, Harrington pinned Jaden Hulslander in 3:46, Chenot pinned Taylor Acla in 38 seconds and Gowin pinned Connor Hess in 2:22.

Also for the Black Knights, Logan Johnson (160) scored a 17-6 major decision over Dereck Atherton-Ely while Clayton Green (182) decisioned Garrett Storch 8-4.

Sexton was especially happy to see Green and Harrington earn those wins.

"I was particularly pleased with Clay Green at 182," he said. "He was up 4-1, then it was tied in the second period. He got the reversal to take a 6-4 lead into the third period. Then he was able to get an escape and a penalty point to stretch it out. We also got a nice win out of Derek Harrington. It was a 0-0 match when he gave up an escape then got a takedown and a fall in the second period."

Canton got wins from Chance Deljanovan (170) and Christian Ward (195). Deljanovan pinned Evan Johnson in 4:59 while Ward decisioned Alex Perez 4-0.

Towanda will host SVEC today with a 7 p.m. start no junior high.

North Penn-Liberty 42, Sullivan County 25

The Mountaineers earned a non-league win and clinched a spot in the District Duals Tournament.

Casey Amaral (145), Judson Wise (152) and Justin Kriner (285) scored falls for NP-Liberty while Cameron Andrews (160), Roger Learn (106) and Coy Wagner (113) had forfeits.

Amaral pinned Jacoby Fitzgerald in 2:54, Wise pinned Herm Harney in 1:59 and Kriner pinned Joe Malkemes in 1:11.

Also for the Mountaineers Logan Garverick (170) scored a 3-2 decision over Colton Pretti while Patriot June (120) earned a 8-4 decision over Cobey Saxon.

For the Griffins, Nathan Higley (132) had a fall while Antonio

Wyalusing 82, Wellsboro 0; Wyalusing 70, Williamson 3

The Rams continued to mow through the NTL with two more wins Tuesday.

Against the Hornets, Elijah Yoder (106), Darren Schum (113), Logan Newton (120), Michael Bonhamer (126), Dylan Whipple (145), Joseph Doss (152), Ed Mapes (170), Mason McGroarty (182) and Jackson Chilson (195) scored forfeits.

Zachary Shaffer (132) pinned Connor Ramsey in 4:41, Lukas O'Connor (138) pinned Michael McNair in 1:28, Creighton Edsell (160) pinned Landon Goetsch in 43 seconds and Michael Wilcox (220) pinned Kyle Manogue in 58 seconds.

At 285, Randy Wildrick (285) scored a 9-1 major decision over Robert Brown.

In the match against Williamson, Schum (113), Brody Reed (170), Wilcox (195) and Wildrick (285) scored forfeits.

O'Connor (138) pinned Sam Cummings in 5:15, Whipple (145) pinned Dawson Stiles in 1:57, Doss (152) pinned Brock Robinson in 1:23, Edsell (160) pinned Brendan Hungerford in 2:46, Mapes (182) pinned Thomas Brunson in 45 seconds and Chilson (220) pinned Dylan Troncone in 1:39.

In matches going six minutes, Newton (120) scored an 8-4 decision over Matt Carpenter, Bonhamer (126) won 8-2 over Josh Hultz and Yoder (106) defeated Tyler Dilly 11-1.

Williamson's win came at 132 as Travis Presto decisioned Shaffer 8-6.
