Canton tops Wyalusing; Sayre routs Blue Ridge.

Canton earned their first NTL win of the season in their 6-1 victory over Wyalusing in baseball action Saturday.

The Warriors scored in the first five innings, twice in the first, to get the win.

Cameron Bellows (2-for-3) led Canton at the plate and scored a run while Taylor Acla and Ben Knapp both had doubles with a run scored.

Carter Route and Kaden Martell also had hits with Martell knocking in a run. Michael Smithers and Route each had an RBI as well.

Byron Marnati started and went five full innings for the win. He struck out seven while allowing three hits, three walks and one unearned run.

Brendan Matthews went the final two, striking out one while allowing two hits.

Joe Wheeler was a bright spot for Wyalusing, going 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Caden English had a double as well while Shane Fuhrey had their other hit.

The Rams threw four different pitchers.

Kyle Warner started and earns the loss. He didn’t record an out as he allowed two walks and two runs, one of them earned.

Jacob Carr came on in relief and went three innings, striking out two while allowing three walks, two hits and two unearned runs.

Zach Bruyn went two innings, striking out one while allowing four hits, one walk and two unearned runs.

Chandler Brown threw one inning as well.

Sayre 15, Blue Ridge 0, 4 innings

SAYRE — Nate Sweet got a two-hit, mercy rule shortened shutout win on Saturday.

Sweet struck out eight and walked none for the victory.

At the plate Jordan Rockwell (2-for-3) and Quinn Hanafin (2-for-4) both had multi-hit games. Rockwell added three runs and 2-RBI while Hanafin’s included a triple with three runs and 2-RBI.

Sam Wheeler had a double with four runs scored, Connor Hanafin had 2-RBI and scored three times, Sweet had a hit with 2-RBI, Jake Burgess had a hit with an RBI, James Esposito knocked in two runs, Cam Wheeler had a hit with an RBI, Isaiah Firestine scored twice, Luke Cowder scored once and Corbin Brown knocked a run in.
