Canton volleyball edges Wyalusing.

The Canton volleyball team edged Wyalusing 3-2 on Wednesday.

Canton won the match 21-25, 25-18, 25-19, 17-25, 15-13.

Annie Gaiotti had nine points, six aces, an assist and eight digs and Caitlyn Pepper had two points, an ace, three kills, 27 assists and 10 digs.

Carmya Martell had five assists and three digs and Emily Ferguson had 15 points, five aces, nine kills, two assists and 13 digs and Esther Martin had eight points, an ace, 12 kills, an assist and three digs.

Hailey Wesneski had three kills, a block and four digs and Jillian Shay had seven points, three aces and 18 digs.

Rhiley McNett had nine kills, three blocks, two assists and a dig and Samantha Proseus had 11 points, three aces, six kills and 17 digs.

Wyalusing got 12 kills, 16 digs and five aces from Melody Kneller and Lylah Oswald had seven kills.

Emily Lewis had four kills and four aces, Kendall Krewson had 22 assists and Daphne Fassett had two kills and four aces.

Wyalusing won the JV match 25-23, 25-23.

Madison Putnam had four kills for Wyalusing, Sage Superko had two aces, Imogen Herbert had three assists and Grace Howard had six aces.

Lauren Gleckner had an ace and three digs for Canton, Katie Shay had three aces, a kill and an assist and Martell had six aces, two digs and three assists.

Gracie Mead had two kills, Gracie Covet had two kills and a block. Rachel Martin had three aces, two kills and two digs, Abby Chapel had two digs and Trisha Gilbert had three aces.

Troy 3, Athens 1

25-20, 25-22, 26-28, 25-23

Emilie Cole had 11 points, three aces, 16 kills, a block and 19 digs for Troy and Mallori Morse had nine points, seven aces, 17 assists, 16 digs and six kills.

Caitlyn Hoffmann had nine points, three kills and four digs and Savannah Sakosky had six points and 26 digs.

Mimi Martin had five points, three aces, 10 assists and 10 digs, with 10 kills, for Athens and Kayleigh Miller had 18 assists, three digs, 15 points and five aces.

Meghan McDuffee had six digs, seven kills and four points and Leah Liechty had seven kills.

Haley Barry had eight digs and three kills and Christina Bard had three digs.

Cassidy Stackpole had six digs, two kills and three points and Paige McCarty had four digs and five points, with two aces, while Taylor Fields had 14 digs and seven points, with an ace.

"We were stuck in the mud tonight," Athens coach Heather Hanson said. "Troy found a hole in our defense and capitalized. Our errors got us and a big error tonight was serving. We have been working on serving a lot in practice and will continue working on it. When you are playing against yourself out there it makes the game infinitely harder and more challenging. I have complete faith in these girls, they will get it, they will.

"Huge shout out to the Reflections select group that sang the national Anthem. Wow. And a big shout out to the Athens crowd tonight, especially the student section supporting these girls and cheering so loud. Your helping make Athens volleyball exciting and we all appreciate it."

Athens won the JV match 25-21, 25-23.

Allee Dutrow had seven points and four aces for Troy and Vanessa Thomas had seven points and two aces and Olivia Demas had seven points.

Union-Endicott 3, Elmira 1

25-18, 21-25, 26-24, 26-24

Katrina Knickerbocker had 17 assists for U-E and Savannah Davis had four aces and 12 kills.

Taytum Pot had 10 digs, Alexandra Keough had 14 assists and Elena Pasquale had eight kills and four blocks.

Elmira got five kills and 25 digs from Emily Saltsman and Tess Arnold had five kills and five blocks. Lexi Wood had six kills, an ace and 15 assists, Mackenna Bruner had seven kills, 14 assists and two blocks and Kylie Lynch had six kills, two aces and seven digs.

Elmira's JV won 3-0.
