Galeton tops Muncy on PKs.

HEPBURNVILLE — 100 minutes worth of soccer wasn't enough to separate Galeton and Muncy.

Then five penalty kicks each didn't do the trick.

On the sixth penalty kick Galeton's Noah Shutt converted, giving the Tigers a one goal advantage.

That was all Tiger goalie Brandon Ruef needed, who stopped Muncy's final kick, sending Galeton onto the semi-finals with a 5-4 penalty kick win after a 0-0 regulation and overtime contest.

Ty Stover and Jake Cochran took and scored on the first two Galeton penalty kicks but Evan Brooks was stopped.

No worries as Muncy's third player was stopped at well, keeping 2-2 after three. Joel Griffen and Isaiah Shuemaker both made theirs but so did their counter parts, keeping it tied at five before the heroics of Shutt and Ruef.

The Tigers out shot Muncy 23-7 while both teams had five corner kicks each.

Ruef stopped seven shots for the regular play shutout.

Galeton will face Sullivan County in the District IV, Class A semi-finals Thursday at Loyalsock with a 7:30 p.m. start.
