Wellsboro tennis defeated Cowanesque Valley and Muncy without dropping a set Monday afternoon.

The Hornets handled CV 7-0, not giving up a point in any of the singles matches. The singles matches were formatted differently than normal. There was only one set played for each match, and the winner was determined by whoever reached 10 first.

In the first singles match, Gabe Leach beat Sterling Jolly 10-0. Noah Fitch defeated Logan Dibble 10-0, Will Poirier defeated Arch Ackley 10-0, and Brent English beat Kenney Waterson 10-0. Nic Ingerick defeated Jackson Prichard 10-0 to finish up singles.

In first doubles, Ryan Stough and Luke Leach beat Sterling Jolly and Kenny Waterson 10-0. In the final match between Wellsoro and CV, Zach Lundgren and Logan Morral defeated Logan Dibble and Arch Ackley 10-5.

Wellsboro then took on Muncy, playing out the matches in the standard format. The Hornets beat the Indians 5-0.

In first singles, Nate Redell defeated Jeremy Lloyd 6-1 and 6-2. Frankie Rexford beat Levi Messenger 6-0 and 6-3 in second singles, and in the final singles match, Will Poirier defeated Josh Hall 6-2 and 6-1.

In first doubles, Gabe Leach and Noah Fitch beat Trey McCollum and Ernie Coppes 6-0 and 6-1. In the final match-up of the afternoon, Ryan Stough and Luke Leach defeated Josiah Meza and Xavier Delker 6-0 in both of the sets they played.

Hornets' coach Margery Hoffman spoke highly of her squad after both of their wins saying, "We are really finding our rhythm in the last week of the duo match season. We played 11 different players tonight between the two matches and they all performed well. They are executing on all cylinders."

Wellsboro will continue their strong season on Tuesday at Galeton at 4pm.
