WYALUSING — Wyalusing rallied from and 0-2 start to defeat Towanda 3-2 (19-25, 24-26, 25-18, 27-25, 15-7) and it looked like they were going to keep the Knights from winning the NTL Large School volleyball title.
TROY — Brooke Ward and Erika Johnston scored two goals each to give Troy the 4-0 edge over NEB on Thursday.
Shane Colegrove scored a hat trick and one assist in Athens' 6-1 win over Northern Potter on Wednesday. Also scoring for Athens were Jesse Sumner and Ethan Lane with two goals; Ben Vosburg and Lucas Arnold each had one assist. Lane scored his 50th goal for his varsity career.
Emily Lunger scored a hat trick and one assist in Athens' 11-0 win over Towanda on Wednesday to win their fifth straight NTL title Emma Adams finished with a hat trick, Abby Sindoni, Morgan Ferguson and Rachel Hutchison each finished with one goal and two assists, Taylor Reynard had one goal and one assist, Ari Gambrell had one goal and Abby Segar finished with one assist.
TOWANDA - Emily and Kourtney Dunn both scored two goals in the first half to lead Towanda to their 8-0 victory over NPM on Tuesday.
Troy topped Wellsboro in five sets in local volleyball action on Tuesday.
The Athens girls cross-country team was second at the Whitney Point Invitational.
Winning the most outstanding singles awards were Wellsboro's Olivia Ryan, Cowanesque Valley's Delaney Ruef and Cheyanne Gehringer and Towanda's Megan Paulish and Courtney Bennett. Towanda's Paulish and Bennett and Wellsboro's Joelle Quimby and Faith Kennedy won the outstanding team doubles awards.
EAST TROY — Ethan Lane had a hat trick as Athens defeated Troy 9-0 in NTL boys' soccer action Monday.
